Worldwake Game Day at Collectibles Unlimited Concord NH

Compete for the crown of Worldwake Champion at your store!

Game Day takes place at participating Wizards Play Network locations worldwide one month after the Worldwake release. Game Days are the first opportunity to play Standard format on a global scale with the cards from Worldwake!

Format
Game Days are Standard Constructed format. The use of deck lists is recommended. The tournament will be Swiss-style, with the number of rounds determined by attendance.

Advancement
The top 8 players after the Swiss rounds will advance to the single-elimination finals. In the case of an event with 16 players or less, the Swiss rounds will be followed by a cut to top 4. Where necessary, the standings after the Swiss rounds will be used to determine final order in the standings.

In the case of an event with exactly 8 players, there will be three Swiss rounds with no single-elimination cut.

Prizes
All participants receive a Hada Freeblade promo card (while supplies last). The top 8 players each receive an exclusive Kalastria Highborn full-art promo card. The cards are awarded to the Top 8 players even if the tournament cuts only to the top 4. Two Kalastria Highborn promo cards will also be awarded as door prizes at each location.

The winner receives the Worldwake Game Day winners certificate, as well as the Worldwake Champion title. Selected top 8 decks and all Game Day winners will also be featured on magicthegathering.com.

Worldwake Pre-Release Tournament

Prerelease Tournament FormatComet Storm Pre-Release Card

Worldwake Sealed Deck – Each player receives 3 Worldwake and 3 Zendikar booster packs to be used for
deck construction.

On the day of your Prerelease event, registered players each receive a Comet Storm promo card and a Launch Party Flyer, while supplies last.

After players receive their product for deck construction, players build a 40-card minimum deck.

The tournament will be run Swiss-style.

When: Jan 30 – 31 2010

Time: 10:30 am until last event finishes.
 
Format: First sealed event starts at NOON. The second sealed event will start at 6pm. Drafts will be done as time and players permit. Cost: $25.00 for sealed and $15.00 for draft

The 2009’s State & Provincial Championships - New Hampshire

Collectibles Unlimited is Proud to be the Host for The 2009’s NH State Championship. We will be holding the tournament OFF-SITE at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers hall. (click map link above) Registration will open on site at NOON with the tourney start time of 1:00 pm You are encouraged to preregister at Collectibles Unlimited (228-3712) prior to the event. We will be giving out From the Vault Exiled to the top 8 as part of the prize support. We will also be randomly giving out 2 From the Vault Exiled as door prizes. The entry fee for the The2009’s State/Provincial Championships is $25.00.

• 50 minutes per round
• Number of Swiss rounds based on attendance according to the following chart:

Registration and Schedule

  • Friday, July 31: Registration from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Saturday, August 1: Registration from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • Saturday, August 1: Tournament begins at 9:30 a.m.
  • Sunday, August 2: Day Two begins at 9 a.m.

The main tournament at Grand Prix–Boston is open to Magic players of all ages.

Tournament Format

  • Day 1: Sealed Deck (Product: 6 Magic 2010 boosters)
  • Day 2 and Top 8: Booster Draft (3 Magic 2010 boosters)
  • Deck lists are required
  • If product is not stamped or preregistered, deck registration and deck swap will be performed for Swiss Sealed Deck.

Tournament Structure

  • Modified Swiss-style (50-minute rounds).
  • If 799 or fewer players register for the event, all players with an X-2-0 or better record OR the top 64 players—whichever number is greater—will advance to the second day of the event.
  • If 800 or more players register for the event, all players with an X-2-0 or better record OR the top 128 players—whichever number is greater—will advance to the second day of the event.
  • The Top 8 players after the final Swiss round on Day 2 will advance to the Top 8 single-elimination playoff round.
  • Top 8 playoff matches will be best 2 of 3, and have no time limit. (Players are still expected to play at a normal pace and complete playoff matches in a reasonable amount of time.)
  • The Top 8 players will be seated randomly at the draft table immediately prior to drafting. The Top 8 bracket will be determined using the random seating.
  • Where necessary, the standings after the Swiss rounds will still be used to determine final order in the standings.

Notes

  • Grand Prix–Boston will be run with a KValue of 40. The Rules Enforcement Level will be Competitive on Day 1 and Professional on Day 2.
  • All Universal Tournament Rules and Magic: The Gathering Floor Rules are in effect for this event unless specifically overruled by information in this Format Document. Rules documents can be found in the DCI Document Center.
  • Players must bring pen, paper, card sleeves and appropriate counters.
  • In the event that a player who wins an invitation to a Pro Tour stop at a Grand Prix has already qualified for an invitation, the invitation does not pass down under any circumstances. Previous qualification may be through a Qualifier tournament, through performance at a professional tournament, or by being an invited DCI player (valid upon the date of the official rank announcement for the appropriate professional tournament).

Collectibles Unlimited is hosting the M10 Launch Party

Description: Format: Open sealed deck play begins at 11am. Main event sealed deck will start at 1pm. Cost: $25.00 per sealed pool.

Launch Parties provide a venue for you to buy the new release of Magic cards as soon as they’re available and play right away with other players in your local area. Run in local game and hobby stores around the world the weekend the new set is available in stores, Launch Parties are low-key introductions to the cards and a great way to meet new players.

Formats are varied at Launch Parties, including Sealed Deck and Booster Draft. In Sealed Deck, you build your deck out of a set number of cards given to you at the start of the event. A Booster Draft involves selecting cards from a larger pool of players, usually eight, and then building your deck out of the cards you draft.

If you enjoyed playing at a Launch Party, you should look into playing at the next Prerelease Event, along with Friday Night Magic.

Schedule

Launch Parties are held at local retail stores the first weekend a new card set is available for purchase. The events usually consist of 15-30 players at each location.

Prizes

Unique prizes created just for this Launch Party are awarded to top players. Special commemorative foil cards and are given to each participant while supplies last. Additional prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the event organizers.

Launch Party Public Events

In addition to the main Launch Party tournament, some locations may offer Open Dueling, Team, Booster Draft and/or League public events.

Open Dueling — Open Dueling is a casual format primarily for players not participating in the main Launch Party tournament. Open Dueling players receive 1 Magic 2010 Intro Pack chosen at random, 1 Open Dueling Results Card, and 1 Ant Queen promo card (while supplies last). Open Dueling players play against other Open Dueling participants as well as Launch Party tournament players who are between matches. (Tournament players are encouraged to help Open Dueling and new players learn how to play Magic.) After an Open Dueling participant has played five matches, upon confirmation of the result by the event organizer that player will receive one complimentary booster pack provided by the organizer as a prize.

Booster Draft — Players participating in a booster draft tournament should each receive the same mix of three booster packs. The recommended mix for Launch Party booster drafts is 3 Magic 2010 booster packs. Other combinations are allowable as long as each player uses the same number and type of booster packs.
